Upgrading your existing facilities/building rather than relocating or completely rebuilding should be the first consideration in any project. The environmental benefits alone can be significant, as can the cost if it is done in a considered manner. Here, we discuss top issues we believe are important in considering any alterations and additions project. What is the big picture? Ask yourself ‘why are we doing this?’, then list off the functional shortcomings that your current facilities have. Theatre Precinct Feasibility – Curtin University
In July 2019, SITE were engaged by Curtin University to undertake a feasibility study for the upgrade of the existing Tim Winton and Elizabeth Jolley Theatre Precinct. The purpose of the feasibility was to determine the suitability of the current facilities to be upgraded to host industry events and for enhanced teaching and learning. The project included a comprehensive review of the Greater Curtin Master Plan and Academic Heart as well as a facility comparison analysis to determine the demand and impact the precinct will have on the Campus in the foreseeable future. SITE’s approach was to consider firstly the…
Beechboro Community Hub
Completed in December 2018, the refurbished Beechboro Community Hub has recently reached its 12 month anniversary. As part of the City of Swans Place Management approach, it had been identified that a ‘one size fits all’ approach did not effectively meet the challenges in giving the attention necessary to service a large and diverse area and there was a need for the delivery of services within the City to respond to changing community expectations and unique needs to each Place. The existing Altone Place Recreation Centre and Altone Library building was redeveloped and extended to provide a new facility for…
Wungong Town Community Centre and Library Feasibility Study
Element (formerly TPG + Place Match) in partnership with SITE Architecture Studio was engaged by the City of Armadale to provide consultancy services for the feasibility study for a new Library and Community Centre within the Wungong Town Centre. Without the additional Library services, the Armadale Library’s catchment population would be exceeded by 2026. The City also recognised that the forecast of Wungong Town population growth warranted a prevision of Library and Community services within the area. SITE…

We have completed a variety of community, education, commercial and residential projects with a diverse range of public organisations and private clients, yet the stand out successful projects for us, are for clients who understood the benefits of early engagement of Site Architecture Studio in the project process. Often, there is a perception that we only need architects when we know what we want to do and how we…
